What do you mean by continuous assessment?

Last updated: Jan 22, 2026 2 views

We are all familiar with the experience of summative assessment which is where, after a period of study, a student sits a final exam or submits a final project to show attainment of knowledge.

Formative assessment is when knowledge acquisition is checked throughout the learning process. For Radiation Training, this is when we ask you to complete quizzes throughout a module to confirm a topic is understood before progressing. If you do not quite understand a topic, you are given the opportunity to revisit the content and try again.

Our Methodology

Radiation Training's continuous assessment methodology uses:

  • Quizzes within modules
  • Tests at module completion
  • Ongoing confirmation of knowledge acquisition

We do not require students to complete a final big exam. Educational research is showing the effectiveness of a well-structured training programme that includes continuous assessment (in comparison to a single summative exam). That research is what we have designed our training courses around.

Your final result is a combination of both the results from the quizzes and end of module tests.
